María Alecia Izturriaga es una periodista venezolana que se mudó a Estados Unidos en el 2001. Por dos años escribió la columna "Crónicas de inmigrantes" en el semanario El Venezolano en Miami. En 2006, fue seleccionada para participar en el Taller Telemundo: Escritores con más de 1.500 aspirantes y se graduó entre un grupo de los trece alumnos más destacados del curso. Actualmente trabaja para el departamento de relaciones públicas de Telemundo y produce Radio Global, un programa diario de entrevistas de Unión Radio en Miami, Florida.
