Susanna Elina Salo was born and raised in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. In her work, she brings Finnish and Karelian old mythology and folklore into a form that is easily accessible. Susanna's goal is to always find something behind the myth that anyone can relate to in their own life, so brings the characters, events and creatures of mythology into modern times. A self-taught artist and painter, Susanna illustrated most of the cards herself. She loves learning new techniques as a painter and trying new ideas. As an illustrator, she wants to give visual form to mythological creatures, characters and events. In her free time, Susanna likes to be in nature, explore the old holy places of Finnish nature, pick mushrooms and berries and take care of her vegetable garden. Susanna loves growing different herbs and vegetables and gardening is her way to relax. A committed forager, she often cooks with nature's bounty. Susanna also has a passion for medicinal herbs.
